With July just around the corner, we are busy hanging a collection of paintings by Richard Thomas Patton IV, our next featured artist. He is joined by an always expanding roster of local artists, which will now include children. The Children’s Area will feature a rotating selection of works both created in our classes, and work children have created on their own. Rene Soto Gallery is a place where people of all ages can build their art skills and confidence. It is never too young or too old to start! Come to the July Opening Reception to learn more about what we do, meet our artists, and see some beautiful art.
Born in Bridgeport, Richard Thomas Patton IV has been active throughout Connecticut for several years, with exhibitions at The Klein, Read’s Artspace, and City Lights Gallery. Currently, he is an artist in residence at 305 Knowlton, and featured in their Armstrong Gallery. Patton holds a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design from Western Connecticut State University, but has made his name as a painter. Learn more here.
Patton takes influence from some of history’s greatest painters, including Picasso and Pollack; and his own Hispanic and African heritage. He paints in the styles of abstract expressionism and action painting, conveying complexity and depth through the use of vibrant colors, bold compositions, textures, and patterns.
