The Artist

About Javier

Javier Eastman is a graphic designer, visual artist and tattoo artist, who has lived in Norwalk for more than 17 years. In that time, he has served hundreds of tattoo clients, travelled the world, and received national and international art awards. In this exhibition, Javier will show a selection of his paintings and drawings that represent his three main styles: portraits, still lifes, and psychological narratives.

Eastman’s work is strongly influenced by Venezuelan and Latin American culture. He was born in Venezuela, in a small and colorful town called El Vigía del Estado Mérida. He spent most of his life there, raised by a single mom, America Jimenez, whose family values, social respect (and recipes!) inspire him to this day.

Today, he owns and operates three businesses in Norwalk: Causality Tattoo Company, La Calle Arepas Bar, and Avenida Venezuelan Food. These ventures are relatively new, and mark a turn in Eastman’s career toward the culinary arts. Cooking is one way that he is able to keep his Venezuelan and family roots running deep, and share his culture and personal history with others.
